Preview : Kilmarnock (h)

It's not that simple of course but at least we can take heart from the fact Kilmarnock are in as much trouble as us. They have won one and lost seven of their last eight games and with defeats against Falkirk, Inverness and Hamilton contained in that run they are hardly the most intimidating of opponents even if they did record a slightly lucky win against us earlier in the season. Fernandez will be suspended and though Invincible might return they have another few players out injured with the influential Taouil also struggling.

The floating wall!

We will be without Quinn who is still serving his suspension and with Craigan seemingly no nearer a return the defence is a bit of a guess. Malcolm, Lasley and Saunders are all potential right backs and it might not be beyond possibility that Klimpl could be pushed out there as well. Lasley is probably needed in the centre of the park which might rule him out and though Malcolm has improved since last season, his previous attempts at right back were not worth remembering.

Clarkson will surely return following his suspension but the more important question just now is probably the formation rather than the players selected. While our midfield might be (rightly) lamented at times, we do seem a lot more suited to 4-3-3 than 4-4-2. Mark McGhee's insistence in fitting square pegs in round holes this term has proved problematic and it will be hoped a change in style can inspire a change in fortune.

Matches against Kilmarnock are rarely spectacular and with them being as nervous and error prone as us this one doesn't look like being a football classic either. That's not to say there won't be goals though and if we can meet their application head on while lifting our game a little we might finally snap out of our rut with a 2-1 win.

Remember the last time Killie paid us a visit?
