Preview - Kilmarnock (a)

Let's be brutally honest. To start with, Kilmarnock are better than us. The league table proves that and our last matches in Ayrshire have been dismal from our point of view. But there is always hope. Killie are very capable of throwing in a stinking performance having dropped home points to St Mirren last week and who can forget the 5-0 drubbing we gave them earlier in the season?

However simply remembering that good result won't cut it and it is plain to see that we will need to take our own chances and must cut out the Christmas gifts at the back. Killie could well have Gary Wales back again and his joining Naismith, Di Giacomo and Nish suggests that they will not be short of a goal threat. Our defence could well be in front of a different 'keeper if Smith gets his recall and surely Corrigan will finally move back into defence to replace Paul Quinn. That move would leave a gap in midfield and Marc Fitzpatrick would be the obvious choice to come in.
It is hard to look at the United game and say we were terrible but sides who are poor at both ends are doomed to struggle. The players need to realise that they cannot switch off and they must focus on everything, whether it's a half chance shot or marking a man at a throw in. If we can do that we will have chance.
Just as important to our survival struggles will be the game at East End Park between Dunfermline and Inverness but we must forget that for the 90 minutes at Killie. Regardless of how we get it, a draw will be a good result and we will be delighted to leave with a 1-1.
