Or perhaps the situation won't be so remarkable. It is certainly our own making. That we are still not officially safe with three games to go is a damning indictment on Malpas and the playing staff regardless of whether you back the manager or not. We have won once since the middle of February - relegation form in any language - but it is the apathy which seems to surround the club that is the big worry. Bad runs of form happen, indeed they are inevitable on occasion, but our current bunch of players do not look like the men needed to turn it around.
It is still highly unlikely that we will finish on the bottom of the table. The chances of St Mirren winning consecutive away games when they themselves are on such a bad run are slim and that should keep us up. But while the players may have been on holiday it is worth remembering that last year's terrible form in the bottom half led directly to our poor start this season. These games may not be vital but they do matter and the pressure is increasing on Malpas, bit by bit, as each games passes. Our end of season collapse means it is imperative we make a good start next season and that, presumably, would be helped by some confidence building wins now.
We have beaten
Remember the last time we were at
This is not a game we should be scared of but against a team on form and playing for their lives it is hard to see us getting anything. A 2-1 defeat seems likely.
