While many football fans had their minds occupied with thoughts of the Euro quarter finals some 445 turned up at Cliftonhill for this first warm up game of the new season.
A couple of our new signings were on show as Heneghan and Blyth were introduced to the claret away strip. As expected after a fairly stable first half the changes came thick and fast and only Samson, Lasley and Thomas were given 90 minutes on the pitch.

The home side took the lead but goal from Moult and Johnson gave is a 2-1 advantage at the break. The final goal came from the captain with a well placed volley from the edge of the box. He's beginning to make a habit of those and we'll be hoping for a few more when the season gets underway.
The manager's post match comments suggested he was happy with the afternoon's work. McDonald, Laing and Tait were not available and poor Brill was the only substitute who remained benched.
Arbroath will provide the opposition when a Motherwell select play at Gayfield on Sunday.
