Pearo managed some good performances last year but he suffered from playing in a struggling side and he lacked the consistency needed for a bigger stage. He did his cause no favours by continually letting his aggression get the better of him and this resulted in a mass of bookings and several red cards. Pearo has only seen one red card this year but that was later rescinded after the referee saw the incident on video.
All that seems to have to changed and Pearo is now turning into the player we new he could be. He has been a regular performer for the Scotland U21s and only injury prevented him from taking on Germany in a future squad match at Pittodrie.
However, Berti Vogts has decided that the potential is there for the next step to be taken even if it is unlikely that Pearo will feature in either game with the Dutch. It can only be a matter of time though before the international breakthrough happens.
Sadly it is likely that the breakthrough may come when Pearo is playing for a different club. It now looks certain that he sees his immediate future away from Fir Park and the only question to be resolved is whether he stays till June or leaves in January
Whatever happens we can be proud that another excellent player was produced through our youth system and hopefully there will be many more to follow.
