Partick Thistle - 24h on

We were twice behind and had to rely on two late headers to snatch the points.  The effort shown, particularly after Thistle's third, was impressive.  The manager said, "It was hard fought and we had a lot of heavy legs out there late on.  A lot of people dug deep".  Too true.

None dug deeper that McFadden who chased and harried tirelessly as we fought to save the game.  Lasley earned the man of the Match award, his performance was all the more impressive as it followed a chrunching tackle early in the game.  Reports say that his knee suffered medial ligament damage and we'll have to hope he recovers quickly.

Hammell did his best at right back but we'll have to hope that Kerr or Ramsden return quickly (by Friday please).  We were fortunate that the second half threat of Higginbotham did not cost us the game.

That the match took place at all was due to the efforts of the ground staff and volunteers who spent the morning forking the sodden pitch.  Had the visitors been travelling from further afield than Maryhill there's every chance that a postponement  would have been called.  There were more than a few who would have settled for that event when we were a goal down in the last quarter.

The pre-match applause for Andy Paton and the black armbands worn by the team were a fitting tribute to an man who served the club with such distinction.  He would have recognised the never-say-die attitude that dragged us to success.

Friday night football awaits with the trip to Tannadice.
