As Geoff Baby mentions in his spiel on page 39 of the fanzine, books on the club thus far have been "....written by people associated with the club and present a vision of the club as seen by officialdom, so as not to offend the high and mighty at SFA headquarters no doubt." The official launch is expected to be around early April, provisionally speaking the 13th but no doubt there will be a lot more to be said closer to the time.
One of the reasons the latest issue has taken so long to appear is because of this very publication (can't do everything at one time can I?) but there have been other reasons as is explained in the Editorial Thingy. Joe Wark himself is obviously featured although I bet he never imagined himself as a Page Three Stunner.
There are plenty of contenders for the Fat Calf/Yabba's Turd awards as you'd imagine with the extended qualifying period so take your pick from Shellic fans/Fyfe's Banana's/Lizard Tongue/BaldyBum/the weather.
For once there's a letter with a serious request for information although it may not seem like it, the high flying lifestyle of First Division footballers rates a page and the upcoming visit to Stranraer meriting another delve into the Groundhopping issue.
There is of course the usual biased viewpionts splattered all the way through, General Football and his immediate inferiors Lance Corporal's Boyle n' Squeeze and the editor reminisces on things he'll miss if the proposed change to playing surfaces goes ahead.
Mr Brainier is of course omnipresent, closer to real life than anyone dare say to his bawface, Talking Bollocks is closer to the truth than anyone dare say in public and the Ed is probably closer to a banning order than he'd care to be thanks to his views on the taboo subject of casuals inspired by a recent debate on this very messageboard.
Yes, One Step Beyond boldly goes where no other 'Well fanzine dares or wants to go, a bit risque, a little bit ooh, a little bit aah but remember the views expressed are solely those of the author. If you disagree with them.... write yer own!!!
