One Step Beyond issue # 67 is available before Saturday’s game and I can honestly say I have never produced such a negative 'zine as that which greets your arrival at the ground.
It's not that I myself am particularly negative as most regulars will know, in fact I'd say I've been positive to a fault at times and indeed accused of 'sooking up' to the club. This issue blows such accusations right oot the watter I'm afraid and I'm not happy that it's necessary to bring out such a tome, and it is necessary for the club to hear what ordinary fans think of recent events.
At the end of the day One Step Beyond represents the ordinary fans, you write in with your views, I put them into print without changing the sentiment or editing out the main points. What you say goes as far as I'm concerned and that counts whether or not I agree with the points raised.
It so happens I am in total agreement with most of what features but it is obvious that the problems are overshadowing the team's efforts on the park and that is disappointing. Put last week at Killie down to one of them days, our start has been okay with a quite exceptional opening day spectacle and would normally have provided streams of folk waxing lyrical, not to mention the first chance for many to gloat over the final day of last season but in the main the actions of the board in the summer far outweigh the positive feelings gained by the actual matches.
We don't get too many periods where we can experience the inner warmth of satisfaction that comes with a decent side producing results so we should be enjoying the moment, not bickering about decisions taken in the boardroom. For that I hold the board solely responsible, I will not condemn the fans for complaining because they are right to do so when they are unhappy. It's just a shame that the guys wearing the jersey aren't getting the attention they richly deserve just now.
Here's hoping the coming months can buck the trend and we can get back to being 'without a cause.'
