Next up: St Johnstone

As deadline day approaches there's some uncertainty about the squads that teams will have available on this weekend.  Grenada international Anthony Straker from York City has joined Motherwell for a four month loan to bolster the ailing left side of the team.  Hammell and Francis-Angol have been rare sights this campaign and the speedy defender is a welcome addition.

It seems likely that we will have the promising centre half Louis Laing also on loan for the rest of the season.  Nottingham Forest have made it clear that they are keen for him to gain more first team experience and his inclusion in our back line has to be worthwhile.

'Well fans bade a farewell to Ojamaa this week as he decline our offer to extend his stay.  His silly red card at Dens marked a sad end to his second spell with us but the combination of Erin and Sutton up front looks as though it may have some success.

The Saints had a great finish to 2014 that included five straight league wins but since the turn of the year they have taken only four points from five matches.  They currently hold sixth place by a point and they have already the comfort of two wins against us already this season.

Although the transfer window has produced little movement at MacDiarmid so far they have been boosted by the returning Chris Kane from a productive loan spell at Dumbarton.  The 20 year old striker made his first start for St Johnstone last weekend against Aberdeen and impressed.

The imminent transfer of ownership of Motherwell to Les Hutchison will mark a new start for the club.  If he could leave the sunshine of the Caribbean and make an appearance at Fir Park as the teams take to the park on Saturday that would give the fans and staff a lift.   In any event we need to break this run of defeats and it there's no better time to see a 2-1 home win.
