Next up: Dundee United

With O’Brien and Ojamaa suspended and Lasley missing the Celtic fixture thanks to a damaged big toe it’s likely that the manager will again field some of the younger players who he has praised in recent games.

Thomas, Watt, Moore and Erwin will be keen to claim a regular starting position and their case will be strengthened if any of them can help stem the poor slide that came with the turn of the year.

The game at Tannadice in August

Our four defeats in January included the loss of 15 goals while Dundee United recorded 2 wins and 2 draws thanks to the 12 goals they scored.  The contrast is stark and ominous.

Our hosts have become regulars in the transfer window rumour-mill as talk of interest in Ciftci and Armstrong sits beside Mackay-Steven’s pre-contract agreement with Celtic.  Again, the contrast with the lack of interest in the current incumbents at Fir Park is dramatic.

The earlier league meetings between the teams both resulted in 1-0 home wins, the last in November when Vigurs scored the winner.  The home side are hot favourites to take all three points on this occasion.

Motherwell season ticket holders should be aware that the reciprocal agreement between the clubs will allow access, upon production of Special Voucher A, for £10/£5.

There will be a deal of satisfaction if we manage to come away with a point from this one and a champagne celebration will be in order if we somehow manage a win.  Unfortunately it looks like another defeat, 2-0.
