Our opponents will still be licking their wounds from last weekend’s 3-1 loss at Ibrox. Their significant injury list meant that they could place only six players on the bench for Saturday’s game. To add to their troubles Chris Innes suffered a groin strain and he’ll be unlikely to play on Tuesday. Murray will be available following the arrival of a baby at the weekend.
The Buddies are only three points ahead of bottom team Falkirk and they will rate SPL survival well ahead of the faded glory of the CIS cup. Failure to beat us would mean a ten game league without a win for the Paisley outfit so the form book should make us favourites.
This are might brighter at Fir Park. The statistics for the Brown/Knox partnership improve with every game and bear repeating (often!). We’ve won the last three games and are unbeaten in ten league matches for the loss of only two goals. As is often the case when a team is high in confidence we have few injury concerns. The only worry concerns Jutkiewicz and his knee.
Will they be cheering at the end of the game?
Despite returning to Everton for treatment he was on the bench in Perth. His appearance for the last ten minutes proved to be crucial as his shot set up the winning goal for Sutton. He may well be on the bench for this game.
We have been to the new St Mirren Park twice this season and there has been no shortage of goals. The League Cup and SPL games at the end of October produced nine goals. The league game had four in a thrilling second half and we recovered a two goal deficit to share the spoils in a 3-3 cracker. We were spineless in the 3-0 CIS loss four days later.
All logic suggests that our run will continue on Tuesday. A 2-0 away win will do nicely.
