St Johnstone come to Fir Park on Saturday to face a Motherwell side aiming for the fabled 'new manager bounce'. Does that still apply if an interim got the job?
Stephen Robinson has demonstrated in his short spell as caretaker an ability to change tactics when needed but his first task will be to select the best eleven from his squad for the challenge of the Perth Saints.
Cadden scored against St Johnstone in August
Heneghan is suspended and McManus is weeks away from a return so we may see Jules, McHugh and Ferguson pressed into defensive duties. Tait missed out against Aberdeen and Hammell was substituted in the second half. Anyone like to predict our back line?
Moult is now available as his one match suspension was served at Pittodrie. His partnership with McDonald remains our best hope of staying ahead of the bottom two. The pair should be backed up with midfield help, particularly from Pearson, but since his return after the winter break his contributions have been short of expectations - must do better.
Our opponents are having another decent season and are comfortable in fifth place in the table. A slight dip in form has seen them win only two of their last six matches and that includes a cup loss to Partick Thistle. Still, an indication of the their strength can be seen from their positive goal difference (+1) compared to our horrible -23.
Home advantage did nothing to aid us in the second fixture of the league campaign in August when St Johnstone took the points after a 2-1 win but we managed to take a point on our visit to Perth. Maybe another point is all we can expect with a 1-1 draw.
