Although we had no game last week our league position has been clarified thanks to results elsewhere. The knowledge that we are destined to finish the season in the top half of the table will enable the club to concentrate on the chase for Europe and success in Dundee will be a big step on the journey.
The Tangerines have taken only one point from us in the first two meetings this season and Motherwell have already won at their ground. A Ross Forbes penalty was enough to deliver a 1-0 win in September.
Watch the birdie!
The players are raring to go after a week off and it might be that superior fitness proves to be a significant factor in the outcome of the game. Craig Brown was quoted in the local press this week saying, “We called a halt to training but they wanted to do more and were bursting with enthusiasm”, so it looks seems that energy levels will be high. United were at Pittodrie last Saturday and they had a tough but successful Cup replay against Rangers on Wednesday evening. Our management duo watched the cup replay and no doubt they will be hatching a cunning plan to win the match.
Tired legs might be the hosts undoing but it is vital that our lads take nothing for granted and apply themselves fully for ninety minutes. The occupants of the Fair Play stand will be hoping for a win but a 1-1 draw might be seen as a decent result as they travel back to Lanarkshire.
