This will be the Dens Park side’s first trip to Motherwell this year; the last clash was in December 2015 when goals from McDonald, Moult and Pearson delivered a much needed three points.
Our opponents have a win, a loss and a draw on their account so far and have the advantage of us by a point. The loss of Stewart and Hemmings forced a major reshuffle of Hartley’s team and the arrival of seven new faces over the summer means that we will see an unfamiliar eleven in the dark blue.
Motherwell v Dundee December 2015
Their latest recruit is a French centre back Kevin Gomis and he is likely to be in the squad for Saturday’s game. The former Dunfermline striker El Bakhtaoui made his first start in the 1-1 draw with Hamilton last Friday.
Mark McGhee was heartened by his team’s performance at Ibrox and although we were forced to defend for long spells in the second period we came within a couple of minutes of taking a point. He’ll be hoping for a similar level of commitment in front of his home fans.
Moult remains on the sidelines but there are hopes that Hammell and McHugh might return to the squad. Both Lucas and McFadden played in the U20’s match this week and they will hope to be involved in some way against Dundee.
It’s time for the first league win of the season at Fir Park – 2-1.
