We can expect an open game with both teams fighting hard for the three point prize. Dundee last won a game back in October when, coincidentally, they beat us 2-1 at Dens. Since then they have become draw specialists. Five of their last seven games have ended 1-1 and they now lie in seventh place.
Rory Loy leads their top scorer table but Hemmings and Stewart are also making decent contributions. It would not be a surprise to see the three of them start in a 4-3-3 shape. Their manager sees this as an opportunity to “get right back on track” following their 2-0 loss to Aberdeen last week.
For Motherwell little has changed in the way of team selection since Mark McGhee planned for the postponed trip to Firhill. We can expect to see the trio of Lasley, Grimshaw and Pearson attempting to dominate the midfield with Johnson or Ainsworth giving an option on the wing. McDonald and Moult seem to be the favoured pair up front and we have a settled back four available. All we need is for the players to be on the front foot and to display the attitude that raised our spirits when Hearts came to town a fortnight ago.
The weather forecast suggests a break from the rain on Saturday but at best the pitch is likely to be heavy. We’ll know by 5pm if ground conditions influenced the result but maybe another 1-1 draw would be fair.
Remember the last vistit of Dundee?
