Motherwell and Aberdeen will resume their quest for Premiership points at Fir Park on Friday evening, ten days after a floodlight failure caused an abandonment at Pittodrie.
The switch from the original Saturday kick-off, at the request of BT $port, will do little to encourage many to make the trip south but given the traditional sparse attendances immediately before Christmas the effect on the crowd may be minimal.
At the weekend Motherwell earned a point in Perth in a second consecutive draw while Aberdeen lost in Dingwall. They have only one win in the last five games and there are growing grumbles from the ‘Red Army’. McInnes has persisted with either Rooney or Stockley but only a couple of goals have come from the pair since the start of November. Let’s hope their goal drought lasts for at least one more game.
The Motherwell team that was selected for last week's shortened encounter contained several players who were, as described by McGhee, "struggling". The outlook is now much better. The manager, now released from his touchline ban, anticipates that the players are free of niggling injuries and that a full week's training will see them back to top form.
Against St Johnstone we set out our stall with Ferguson, McManus and Heneghan in a back three and if the manager decides to employ the same shape against Aberdeen it’s likely that we will be unchanged.
Bobby Madden will be in charge for this floodlight encounter. If the weather forecast is accurate we can expect a stormy night at Fir Park and a few coupons could be shredded after a 2-1 home win.
