Our visitors will still be smarting at the late late defeat they suffered at the hands of Hibs at the weekend and they are still dangerously close to Hamilton. It seems that their aim in recent games has been to send out an eleven designed not to lose rather than attack. Fans of the Buddies suffer increasing frustration as the weeks go by and there is a growing belief that they will escape relegation only because Hamilton will be unable to stage a recovery.
Hateley scores
The worries of the Paisley faithful will not concern Stuart McCall as he prepares his players for the game. The Motherwell squad will be boosted by wins over Aberdeen and Hamilton and should be confident that they are good enough to overcome their struggling opponents. If we are able to play anywhere near our best then we should win.
Jones and Saunders may not be available but he manager still has a selection problem. For our last couple of games Hammell and Humphrey, two fixtures in the team earlier in the season, have started on the bench. We had Sutton and Jeffers up front with Murphy at the tip on the diamond in support. After an hour or so the pair come on to relieve Jeffers and Forbes. Gunning continues to impress at left back and Hutchison’s excellent contribution on Saturday shows that he is benefiting from the extended run that followed Reynolds’ departure.
It is hard to make an argument for anything other than a home win and the bookies odds reflect that outcome. Here’s hoping for another three points; 2-0.
Remember when St Mirren were last at Fir Park?
