Most Motherwell fans, even the hardy few who will make the short trip to Ibrox, have given up all hope of seeing us win in Govan again. It has been 13 years since we last tasted victory there, on Owen Coyle day, and have failed to defeat several Rangers teams which could compete for their title of worst ever.
Jutkiewicz celebrates
We have at least managed a couple of draws though, including the last gasp theft on the final day of the season in May, when we escaped with a 3-3. A repeat would be nice but Rangers – though exceptionally limited for a club of their stature – are crushing the SPL in their wake with a seven game 100 per cent record. It will take something special for us to get a share of the points.
Despite this, Rangers are not invincible. Several of their wins have been by the odd goal and with McGregor and probably McCulloch joining Jelavic on the sidelines we will get a crack at some of their squad players. Our own squad, with the exception of Saunders, is generally healthy but with Hammell to come in and Hateley moving to right back our first eleven does not look especially weak.
I'll have these dangerous missiles!
There is no reason for us not to believe we are capable of producing a shock here but we have said that for the last 13 years before trips to Ibrox. Unfortunately there is little to suggest history will be changed now as we slump to a 2-0 defeat.
Remember the last time we visited Ibrox?
