Next up - Dunfermline

The short answer on this occasion is a positive one – yes, we definitely can.  There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance though and while strong favourites for this clash we cannot take anything for granted.

Well_crowdMotherwell support in Dunfermline in August

Dunfermline have not won at home all season, have a lengthy injury list, poor form and the players were not paid in full this month.  They have fallen three points behind Hibs in the relegation battle despite playing a game more and are in urgent need of a victory.

On the other hand we should be full of confidence due to our performances pre-Celtic, have beaten the Pars comfortably twice already this season and with the exception of the suspended Lasley, have a near full squad to choose from.

There are few occasions when backing Motherwell at minus one or even minus two at the bookies would seem attractive but this may be one of those times.  Dunfermline will look to turn the game into a battle and if they do that, they do have some players capable of posing us problems.  Their defence is little short of mediocre though and that's before we look at a third choice goalkeeper who is currently as reassuring as seeing Stevie Woods between the posts.

This will not be a walkover as Dunfermline will give everything in search of the points needed for their survival but through Law, Humphrey, Ojamaa, Murphy, Higdon and Daley we surely have enough attacking ability to break them down.  Fingers crossed we do not have to stress too much en route to a 2-0 win.
