Next up - Celtic

Sadly, recent history suggests that the game may be rather one sided.  Motherwell have lost on their last four trips to Parkhead and on three of those occasions the margin was 4-0.  League positions were reversed earlier in the season when the teams met in September.  It was Celtic that were playing catch up that day but two goals in each half from Forrest (2), Ledley and Ki saw the Glasgow team overtake Motherwell.

Last time at Parkhead

Despite Motherwell’s recent high flying run the players will be aware that they are to face the league leaders in rampant form.  Since their last league defeat (against Hearts in October) they have been unbeaten in 19 with only 4 draws.  They have won the last 13 in a row in all competitions.   It will be a stern test.  With the title all but guaranteed we can only hope that our hosts fall into a complacent spell and that we are sharp enough to take advantage.

Stuart McCall is wary of the test ahead, “We go to the toughest venue in the SPL next – Parkhead – and for that reason we can only take things one game at a time.  I am delighted we are 12 points clear of Hearts and St Johnstone but we know we must keep our feet on the ground. We will have to dig deep to keep our run going at Celtic. So we will not be getting carried away.”

Lasley will be available on Saturday (before missing the following week's game at Dunfermline) and his restoration to midfield will e a strength. The manager elected to keep his back four intact on Wednesday and Craigan had to watch from the bench until the last few minutes.  Will his experience be needed at Parkhead?

There’s no doubt that the eleven starters will give their all in the cause but the harsh reality is that we are second favourites.  It may be that we’ll leave with heads high but no points after a 2-0 defeat.
