Next in the top six - Hearts

The last pairing resulted in a 6-0 thrashing at Tynecastle when a weakened Motherwell team was lucky to avoid a double digit drubbing.  That January defeat was the start of a horrible run that raised real fears of relegation.  Our form improved in early spring now has its reward as we enter the closing stage in fourth place.  Hearts, in third, are out of reach and we can do no better than to hold position and begin preparations for next season.

Moult is smothered in congratulation - he scored against Hearts in the first minute

Mark McGhee has given a vote of confidence and a contract extension to his second in command Stephen Robinson and we may see the start of their forward thinking with Saturday’s selection.

Cadden and Hall have already stepped up and Thomas and Leitch will want to persuade the manager of their case for a place.  But Pearson is due for a return from injury and he’ll need game time.

Our opponents hope that a collapse from Aberdeen will open the door to second place but a more realistic view is that they will be content with the achievement of securing a Europa League spot in their first season back in the top flight.

Hearts will make some defensive changes as Oshawina and Rossi are suspended but their big squad will provide plenty of options.  Juanma  will provide the main goal threat and he will be well supported by the physical strength of his team-mates.

This game gives the home crowd a first chance to show their appreciation to the players for their inclusion in the top six and with the club extending the family ticket to include two U16s for each adult entry we can expect a decent crowd.  A point after a 1-1 draw should keep us on track.
