Since that last meeting at the start of September the teams have had differing fortunes. ICT’s great run has pushed them up the SPL table to fourth place while Motherwell have slipped back to seventh. A win for the visitors would put us a point ahead and boost spirits following a run of one win in eight.
Higdon will be looking to return to the form that saw him bang in three against Inverness when the teams met at Fir Park and Hateley will have fond memories of his goal from the corner. Hutchinson and Kerr should be back in contention for a starting place having had a couple of weeks to recover from their ills and Hammell’s long lasting ankle trouble should have recovered somewhat since his second half substitution against Dundee last weekend.
The meagre haul of points gained in the last few outings hardly reflects the goal scoring chances the team has created but it’s time for the hard luck stories to end. There’s no better time that this weekend.
The home crowd will give an extra cheer as Shinnie takes a bow following his appearance for Scotland against Luxembourg. He tops their goal scoring chart and becomes a record breaker as the first ICT player to earn a full cap. The small travelling band will excuse him if he has an off day on Sunday. Tudur Jones entered the score sheet for the first time when he fired a powerful shout against Hearts last week. The big Welsh midfielder will take some watching.
Honours between the teams at Inverness have been fairly even of late but our players will be anxious to return to the top six and a determined effort might be enough to win the day 2-1.
Remember our last trip to Inverness?
