Matches between the teams have not featured many goals recently. In the last six meetings neither side has scored more than once and the three most recent have finished level.
St Mirren were comfortably beaten at Parkhead last week but they'll be more comfortable on their own patch. Despite their lowly league position the Saints have a better home record than Motherwell having taken 11 points to our 10. Goodwin and McAusland will be eligible for this game only because of it has been brought forward 24 hours. Their one match ban starts on Saturday!
The last Motherwell eleven at St Mirren Park
The Motherwell squad will still be on cloud nine following the wonderful win at Easter Road. There were no obvious injuries last week and we can expect the same eleven to start the game. Let's hope that the growing transfer speculation can be dismissed and that we can start the festive games with a win.
Before the break that follows our visit to Celtic Park at the start of January there are home games against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock. If we can hold on to our second place until the third cycle of fixtures arrives then we'll have every chance of a high finish. Let's get the job started with a 1-0 win on Friday.
