We have made two signings to strengthen the squad before Saturday.
David Cowan, a full back, has arrived from Newcastle and attacking midfielder and striker Ian Russell has been rescued from Rangers.
It is doubtful if either will be automatic choices for the first team squad but competition is no bad thing and they will be useful to have when injuries inevitably come along.
Kevin Gallacher has been offered a weekly contract with Huddersfield Town after impressing and scoring in a reserve game.
If he accepts, he will be eligible to play for Town on in the league on Saturday and would be able to negotiate a contract with them at a later date.
However, this would mean that he would be classed as an international player as far as we’re concerned and wouldn’t be able to sign him once the transfer deadline passes.
FPC believes that Butcher does not think Gallacher is sharp enough to play for us and he will not be offered a contract regardless of his performance mid-week.
The Daily Record obviously had a blank column in the Sports Section yesterday as they have dredged up a story about John Boyle possibly taking control of Motherwell again. While they may consider this as ‘news’, it’s only possible because he is still the major creditor of a company in administration. He enjoys the same rights as every other person in his situation up and down the country. That’s also something the more paranoid ‘Well fans should remember…
Craig Brown has officially dropped his interest in Jamie McFadden – as if he had a chance anyway – and with no other firm offers on the table it looks as though Faddy will be staying with us until January.
