Nancy limits 'Well fans to a thousand

Nancy's stadium holds 20,000 and the allocation matches the Uefa minimum of 5%. Motherwell's request for an increase met with deaf ears and the result will be a scramble for the 1030 tickets.

An additional 170 VIP seats are available for those who can find £450 and a place on the club's chartered plane (and, no, it is unlikely to be one of those impounded Zoom jumbos!).

Only season ticket holders are eligible for the ballot which takes place on Friday.

The daw took place on 29 August and since then Motherwell fans have been making arrangements to get to Nancy for the first leg which is scheduled for 18 September. Flights have been booked from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Prestwick, Newcastle, Liverpool and beyond followed by bus, train and hire car connections to cover the remaining journey.

The limited ticket allocation will mean that there will be a number of travelling fans who will secure 'home' tickets, a situation which could easily be resolved by an allowance of another thousand.

One further point of interest has come to light. The cost of a ticket for this first round proper of the Uefa Cup is 5€. Yes, around £4. Now, there's an example of a club looking after fans.
