Motherwell mourns Bill Dickie

Bill_DickieBill was on the Motherwell board for more than thirty years and for the six years following our period of interim administration he was club chairman.  His lasting legacy at Fir Park are the South and Cooper stands that were designed by him.

He was a familiar figure at match days, frequently in and around the mouth of the tunnel as the team emerged from the dressing room.  His presence will be missed all over Scotland as he was a regular ambassador for the club when Motherwell played away from home.

His loss will be acknowledged when Motherwell host Inverness  for Saturday's SPL fixture.

Leeann Dempster commented on the official site, "Everyone is absolutely devastated by Bill’s sudden passing.

“He was one of those characters that was so bright and bubbly; it has come as a great shock to everyone at Fir Park.

“Indeed, just last Saturday he was in and around the club for the Scottish Cup clash with Queen’s Park being his usual self. He was being very positive about the team and the future of the club in his own unique style.

“It goes without saying that we would like to pass on our deepest condolences to Bill’s family and close friends at this very sad time.”
