The highlight has to be the dual awards given to Jim Gannon and Lukas Jutkiewicz. Our great leader was odds on to take the October SPL Manager's award after two home wins and two away draws cemented out position in the top half of the table. The style he has brought with him from Stockport has been the subject of much praise from our fans as well as the boys in the press box.
It was pleasing to see Lukas Jutkiewicz join him to receive the Young Player award. His three goals in October were a fitting reward for the hard work he has been delivering in the first couple of months in the season. Let's hope he increases his tally in November - starting with the local derby this weekend.
Jamie Murphy was named in the U21 squad on Wednesday and he'll have an Azerbaijan stamp on his passport next week. There was disappointment for midfield goal scorer extraordinaire Ross Forbes as he was not included although an U19 squad announcement is imminent and he is likely to be named there.
Stephen Craigan was named in the Northern Ireland squad for a friendly against Serbia. He's now had over forty caps and is by far the most capped Motherwell player. Between training, a photo-shoot for the Poppy Appeal and his midweek slot on Radio Scotland he's been a busy man.
The well known tradition of a collapse following the monthly SPL awards has to be avoided on Saturday. Maybe Gannon, new to the Scottish scene, is unaware of the hoodoo. Don't tell him!
