Law is a right sided midfielder/winger and was voted into last season's League Two PFA Team of the Year. His contract at Rothreham expires at the end of June and Motherwell will have no compensation to pay as a result of cross border rules. Reports suggest that a few clubs had him on their radar and he had talks with Scunthorpe - their manager said, "We spoke to Nicky but we couldn't agree on money. Now he's going to sign for Motherwell and good luck to him."
The thread on Law's departure on the MillersMad website suggests that he is a skilful player though some suggest that the "physical Scottish game" might not suit his style. We might have to hope that the promised revolution in the Scottish game heralded by the arrival of the SFA's Performance Director allows our new man the chance to shine. Law is well known to Stuart McCall as he played at Bradford during a couple of loan spells between 2007 and 2009.
Our manager is quoted on the STV website -
"He is an attacking midfielder. He can play on the left, on the right or he can play off the front. He gives us variety.
"But he is a forward playing midfielder and that is something we have been lacking so we will look to get him forward. He and Michael (Higdon) could have gone to English clubs for far more money so we are delighted to have them both.
"In the back of mind I thought he might go to England but he has come here and I hope he can show the talent that he has got."
He'll join Michael Higdon and Nicky Devlin as the third acquisition made by the manager in this summer's signing season. While we await a decision from Jennings about his future there are still plenty of empty pegs in the Fir Park dressing room that need to be filled. The departures of Sutton, Jeffers, Ross, Meechan, Charalambous and Cassagolda mean that we need a few more before we have a squad fit for the rigours of the forthcoming SPL campaign.
