Look back at Livi

At the post match press conference Terry Butcher said, "I'm sure I must have named one of the youngest SPL sides ever. I'm not too despondent about this result because we played better than last week and I'm sure we'll keep improving."

He’s correct that the youngsters worked their socks off. Their effort and commitment cannot be questioned. Kenny Wright celebrated his eighteenth birthday a fortnight ago and David Clarkson still has a month to wait before he can order a drink at the bar.

But the fact remains that we have yet to score a goal in this season’s SPL campaign. Rubio and Andrews controlled the threat to the Livi goal and at times the phrase ‘men against boys’ summed up our attack.

The fixture computer favoured us with the early fixtures. Dundee (h), Livingston (a), Kilmarnock (h) and Partick Thistle (h) has to be thought of as a relatively easy start. Failure to take a handful of points from these four fixtures would encourage the pessimists. It seems ridiculous to suggest that the next couple of games are vital but if no success is forthcoming then the bookies will probably close the book on our league position at the end of the season.

On the positive side, Faddy did not get booked!
