Look Back a Year

Despite taking only one point from the last nine we still hold on to sixth place in the table and are a comfortable nine points ahead of the bottom feeders, Gretna.
Desperate times
At the same stage last season it was us, not our tenants at Fir Park, who were holding up the table. Nine games had gone and our triumphs amounted to one win at home, one win away and a draw to relieve the gloom of six losses. And what of the losses?
Among the worst was the 4-1 pasting which Inverness delivered in mid September. Even at that relatively early stage of the season we were beginning to question the suitability of Malpas. From FirParkCorner following that game: "What of the manager? His doleful post match interview on the radio might have driven some of the more depressed among us to self harm. He will have to adopt a more animated public face. His retreat to the dugout in the face of a heavy defeat does nothing to convince us of his belief in the team."
They've had enough
Those of us who thought they recognised some resemblance of last season's form at Tannadice should take a moment to reflect on the progress we've seen in the last few months. The odd slip into old habits is bound to happen. We need to be grateful for the turnaround. Long may it continue!
