League Cup Draw
Last updated : 27 September 2007 By Firparkcorner
After our sensational display at Easter Road last night we eagerly awaited news of the quarter final draw from Hampden. We came out paired with Rangers with the tie to be played at Fir Park. While this draw may not seem brilliant, at least it is at home. As the last two teams out of the hat it could easily have been a lot worse. While we have been abysmal against Rangers

we have to beat them sometime and they are liable to play a reserve side to protect their squad for the league and Europe. However while there is no doubt this will be a big challenge for us, we are much more likely to take one of the Old Firm at Fir Park than Hampden. We have shown we are a quality side when things click and if we have genuine ambitions to win the trophy, this draw is not a disaster.
We have not defeated Rangers in a cup competition since 1961. They have beaten us a number of times since, including in the 1987 League Cup semi final and the 2003 Scottish Cup semi final. Is this now our turn?
The tie will be played on the 30th or 31st of October.
The full draw is:
Aberdeen v Inverness
Dundee United v Hamilton
Celtic v Hearts
Motherwell v Rangers
