Kilmarnock : 24h on

At the third time of asking we managed a post-split win, a welcome turn of events but many believe it's a case of too little too late.  However, that should not take the shine off a fine victory over Kilmarnock.

Despite a few periods when the visitors had the upper hand were worthy of the win.  The goals were well constructed and at times we passed the ball and looked like a football team.  The reliance on the long ball game that has proved to be so ineffective in recent weeks was gone.  Maybe that's a lesson for the next couple of games?

The familiar sight of Hammell back in harness has been a pleasing sight.  Would we be in our present predicament had he been available for most of the season?  His return has bolstered our defence and strengthened our attacking options on the left.  Welcome back Stevie.

Erwin and McDonald continue to develop their partnership.  Both scored and their pace kept Pascali and Co occupied.  Johnson ran Ashworth ragged and his deliveries provided more opportunities.  On Friday's showing it's hard to fathom why we're in 11th place.

We have yet another 'must win' game in Paisley next week.  Saints did us a favour in Dingwall but we must push for goals and hope that either Partick Thistle or Hamilton (or both) can do us a turn by winning.  In that case we could secure our place in the top division at Fir Park on the last day - a chance for someone to recreate van der Gaag's heroics?
