The club has let it be known that 55 applications have been received from 20 different nationalities and the job of selecting a small group for interview is well underway.
The Board of Motherwell FC today released the following update on the vacant managerial position at the club.
" In May, the club released a statement advising we were in the process of is seeking new investment. Discussions are ongoing with interested parties and we are planning to reach a conclusion by the end of the current month.
As a result, the Board has agreed to delay the appointment of a new manager until the issue of ongoing ownership of the club is resolved."
Black can now complete preparations for Saturday's game in Inverness and for the Scottish Cup tie with Dundee United on 29 November. If he can build on his success at the start of the month with another couple of wins before the end his credibility as a potential successor to Stuart McCall would be greatly enhanced. Without knowledge of the list of applicants it's difficult to know whether a familiar face might be the best option.
The Well Society has called a meeting on 25 November. Although the first agenda item will be to fill a board vacancy, it is expected that news of the fans' fundraising efforts will be heard and that a position on ownership will be taken.
