Jenno was Jim Gannon’s first signing and he joined us in July 2009 initially on a one year deal. He played in the 8-1 horsing of Flamutari and soon established a midfield partnership with Keith Lasley.
His combative style soon brought the attention of the SPL referees and he accumulated over 20 yellow cards in his three year spell. His only red card in that time was the controversial late dismissal against Hearts in December 2010. Some bookmakers reported what they considered unusual betting activity in respect of his sending off but after a long investigation no action was taken. At one stage Motherwell FC were said to be under pressure not to play him but the club stood by him.
The reliance that the team had on his presence was highlighted last season when the we suffered a series of poor results. His number 8 shirt was sidelined at that time as he recovered from an injury.
Despite the offer of a fresh contract Jennings let it be known that his preference was to play his football south of the border and he is likely to play for Coventry City against Hinkley United on Saturday. He’ll be an important player for the Sky Blues as they try to bounce back to the Championship and he leaves Fir Park with the best wishes of Motherwell fans.
