The 23 year old was born in Wellington but was brought up in Scotland and made one substitute appearance for Celtic in 2005. He had a loan spell at Dunfermline before being released from Celtic in May 2009. He joined A-league side Central Coast Mariners on a two year deal.
He has represented Scotland at U19 and U21 level but changed his allegiance to New Zealand and was rewarded with a call up to their national squad for the World Cup play-off against Bahrain. He then earned his first cap when New Zealand faced Jordan in September 2009.
The BBC report suggests that he'll join us in the second week of next month and that a prime reason for the move is to keep him match fit until the World Cup in June. He'll be with us until the end of the season. The profile on the Central Coast Mariners website suggests he weighs in at a lightweight 68Kg and is 175cm tall.
Craig Brown had teased the Motherwell support with a hint that a world cup player was a possible signing and it could be that Michael is the target. There has been no confirmation from the club that the deal is finalised.
