All that separated the teams was Tade’s fine second half strike. Motherwell had the better of the first half opportunities but neither Daley nor Murphy was able to hit the target. The ponderous passing philosophy eventually gave way to a simple game called ‘Find Higgy’. Balls were launched to the big man from left, right and centre. Unfortunately the big Inverness defence had few problems with that tactic.
The manager and players have expressed their disappointment at the recent run of results but no easy solution is apparent. Stuart McCall is unlikely to find the answer by wheeling and dealing in the current transfer window and any funds will have to be generated by a sale. Given that the current squad has delivered third place for most of the season we’ll have to hope that they can start to find the net (especially at Fir Park!) more often.
We’re travel the road and miles to Dundee next week and the travelling fans will be more than happy with a repeat of the 3-1 win that we earned at the start of October. With any luck the return of Jennings to the starting eleven might be the catalyst needed to return us to wining ways.
