Inverness: 24h on

That’s not to suggest that our troubles are over but it does imply that there is reason to hope that we have the potential to claw our way to safety.  Whether it was the appearance of a couple of old boys back on the Fir Park turf or the behind the scenes scheming of Baraclough and Robinson hardly matters.  We had a team that demonstrated from kick off that they were expecting to win.

The pairing of McDonald and Erwin gave our attack much more mobility and the opposition defence was pulled after them.  For the first time this season Sutton began the game on the bench and the change of style brought instant dividends.  Sutton thrives on deliveries from the wings but our current squad has been unable to provide that service.  The change made us more dynamic in forward areas and chances were created.

Law did well at right back though the opposition carried little threat on that wing.  Ramsden’s second red card of the season will result in another change to the back four next week.  Laing took his goal well with a powerful header and his confidence should grow after the shaky start at the club.

Inverness were content to sit back and wait patiently for an opportunity to counter.  We are fortunate that our new ‘keeper has an extended reach as demonstrated just before the break.  His foiling of Williams’ attempt was a turning point.  It would have been a deeply depressed team in the home dressing room at half time had Inverness sneaked an undeserved lead.

Kilmarnock provide the opposition for our third consecutive Saturday at Fir Park and with St Mirren idle we have a chance to move off the bottom.
