Quite how we managed to lose to the ten men of Dundee United is still a bit of a mystery but the players will be out to make up for it. We have a tough run of games coming up and while Hibs will be hard to beat, three points is a must.
David Clarkson has looked lively since being introduced to the side and he looks like a certain starter. Khaled Kemas is also back in contention and could take a seat on the bench. James McFadden will miss the third game of his four match suspension.
Partridge and Brebner take an early bath
Hibs have won both meetings between the sides so far but we blew chances in both of them. McFadden missed a sitter between Hibs’ two goals at Fir Park and we were 1-0 up and cruising before Sengewald was sent off at Easter Road.
The visitors will be missing midfielder Jarko Wiss with injury and Garry Smith through suspension but have a full squad to choose from other than that.
We need to step up a gear if we are to take anything from the match. And we need to score. Several clear chances were missed at Tannadice last week and we paid the price. A lot will also depend on how we cope with Mixu Paatelainen. Sengewald (now departed) did well against him for most of the match at Easter Road and the duty of marking him may now fall to Tony Vaughan.
It will be interesting to see if Terry retains the same shape as last week. The inclusion of Vaughan also heralded the ‘three at the back’ formation. Will he give it another go?
It will be tense and it won’t be pretty but we’ll grind out the win we need. 2-1 to the ‘Well.
Do you remember hwo many red cards were shown the last time we played Hibs?
