Saturday’s win over Hibs was far more convincing that the 1-0 score suggests. For long periods in the first half we simply denied the home team the ball and their supporters made their feelings known as the teams headed for the half time break.
We survived this late scare
It feels wrong to pick holes given the wonderful set of results that we have had the good fortune to watch this season but the outcome of this game should have been assured long before the final whistle.
Stuart McCall identified a number of players for a pat on the back after the match including Higdon who “led the line well. The big striker certainly got into scoring positions and his team mates delivered some fine service. The fact that Stack had an outstanding game might offer him some comfort but he’ll know that his name should have been on the score sheet.
Now that we have played all eleven of our league competitors it is an appropriate time to take stock of the season to date. Seven wins, a draw and three losses have given us our best start in the SPL. That it has been achieved with a relatively new manager and a very small squad makes the achievement all the more impressive.
Something similar in the next cycle will do nicely!
