The thrilling start made by Motherwell overwhelmed the visitors and they never recovered. It would not have made pleasant viewing for the modest travelling supporters in the South Stand. We were able to dominate them in the physical and passing contests and the two goal margin at half time flattered them.
The listing of our triumphs under Craig Brown’s leadership is now an established part of post match analysis but ‘Well fans will not tire of the repetition. Of the dozen league games in 2010 we have eight wins and four draws. The three goals conceded are dwarfed by the seventeen in the credit column. The goal scorers are: Jutkiewicz 3, Murphy 4, O’Brien 3, Sutton 5, Hateley 1 and Reynolds 1. Under Jim Gannon we played 18 SPL games for 20 points for an average of 1.1 point per game. Brown/Knox have gathered 28 points from 12, an average of 2.3.

There was some disappointment at the attendance, 4448. The poor away support added little to the occasion and that might have disguised a slight rise in the home support but there can be no denying that the players deserve a better turnout. The team are raising the bar every week and now hold fourth place in the table – though we have played two games more than most of the rest.
Reports suggest that the free weekend ahead will not be wasted. It seems that we will have a deputation visiting the Cheltenham Festival. Given the way we’re playing at the moment I’d be tempted to tip anything running in claret & amber!
