The depressing statistics built up over the last few weeks don't bear repeating. In truth, we have not been torn apart by anyone and the recent contests could have gone either way. The harsh reality is that they have all gone the way of the opposition.
The local derby was a game we should never have lost. We camped in the Accies' half for most of the first period and lost a careless goal just before the whistle. Scrappy play resulted in a poor defensive header from Klimpl and Mensing's return over the top released McCarthy. The youngster is on song at the moment and he finished well. His booking for the mildest of celebrations was not justified. Reynold's blunder early in the second half ended the contest but again, it came against the run of play.
Still, they converted the few chances which fell in their favour and we took none of ours. We can have no complaint - though Porter might have had a penalty in the 68th minute when he was pulled to the floor. Had Mr Brines been up with play the game could have swung our way.
A first half attack
So what is the solution? Santa is unlikely to deliver a couple of deadly strikers to end the goal drought so we'll have to rely on the same troops to pull us back up the table. There is very little between the teams in the bottom half of the table, all we need is a break.
A jammy deflection, a kind bounce or a fluke is we need to start the comeback. Let's hope it comes our way at
