It was a slow start from the visitors and they were fortunate not to have been more than one behind when a Troon striker fired into the roof of the net in the opening few minutes. Fortunately this provided the wake-up call that was needed and after 16 minutes a magnificent through ball from David Fraser sent Ross Pate clear to level. This season’s top goalscorer soon gave FPC the lead with a tidy finish before Stevie Taylor scored from close range to give the visitors a two goal cushion at the break.
The second half began as the first had ended and FPC soon put the match beyond doubt when Ross Pate completed his hat-trick with a neat finish through a crowded Troon penalty box. Taylor then doubled his own tally with a rare headed goal before David Fraser wrapped up the scoring with an easy finish after great work from substitute Jonathan Warnock on the left-hand side.
FPC have two league games left to play and are looking to sign off the season with a pair of victories to lay down a marker for next season’s campaign.
