Four Steelmen in the Scotland B Squad

Last updated : 29 April 2009 By Firparkcorner

Much comment has been made about the sense of having this game in the first week of the SPL post-split calendar and the consequent restriction it places on team selection. Four teams in the top six play on Thursday 7 May and an Old Firm match follows at the weekend.

As a result the national B squad has an unusual look to it but none of the players selected should be concerned about the surrounding hype. It should always be regarded as an honour to be chosen for a representative game and it should be seen as a reward for consistent good form.

Mark Reynolds is no stranger to the blue of Scotland having played at U19,20 and U21 levels already. A starting place on Wednesday would serve as an ideal present as he will celebrate his 22nd birthday the next day. He will be in familiar company with team-mates Hammell, Hughes and Clarkson also getting a reward for their performances this season.

The game kicks off at 7.30pm at Broadwood on Wednesday 6 May. Entry is by cash at the gate; adults £5 and £2 for concessions. The full quad is…
