Falkirk 24h On

The win over Falkirk was not fashioned by flowing football but we were treated to some wonderful goals. The second and third dismissed the bitter chill of a freezing March afternoon and transported those lucky enough to see the quality strikes by McDonald and Foran into the belief that we were watching players of some quality.

Nine goals v Falkirk this season

McDonald’s turn at the edge of the box, sending two defenders chasing a shadow, followed by his curling right footed effort into the keeper’s left hand corner is bound to find its way to the Australian manager as a reminder of the wee man’s potential.

The league table is now much more encouraging sight. We are a home next Saturday while Inverness have to make the trip to Parkhead. If we can produce a third win on the trot the likelihood is that we will be in sixth place and the others hopeful of finishing in the money will have to look up at us.

A few weeks ago it looked like we would have no meaningful target for the remainder of the season but credit must be given to the guys for the last few performances. Saturday’s upcoming game against Hibs becomes the latest ‘must win’ encounter.

For a change, the fringe fans who were tempted to watch Motherwell as a result of the cut price entry for the Maggie’s day game saw us win and score three goals into the bargain. Let’s hope that they were sufficiently pleased with their outing to come back next week and give the team an extra cheer.
