Unfortunately we moved down one position in the SPL table to eighth. We are currently five points above Livingston who are rooted at the bottom (naturally, their only win to date was against us!).
Working in pairs at the pre match warm up at Love St in July
Terry’s disappointment at the result was lightened by the realisation that the performance was much better than he witnessed at either Tynecastle or East End Park.
"Today we had eight players in the squad under 21, but from what I've seen so far in the league we can compete with most teams" said Butcher.
Given that there was great uncertainty at the start of the season about our prospects, we have to be encouraged by the early form shown by the team. The squad radiates a feeling of confidence and enthusiasm that transmits itself to the fans.
At the pre match warm up the players go through their routines with a smile. The camaraderie which Terry and Chris encourage is there for any spectator to see. They often work in pairs, take turns at choosing the warm-up exercise or play a two touch passing game to enhance the close control and passing skills.
During games the players demonstrate a willingness to support each other. Sometimes hunting in packs to regain possession or by making themselves available for the easy pass. At times the running and passing moves generate applause from the crowd, something which has been all to rare in recent times.
On Saturday there were several instances of this. Hammel, Pearson and McFadden combined on occasions to move the ball from defence to attack down the left wing. Pass and run, one-twos, and incisive passing lead to a few telling crosses into the danger area.
Aberdeen visit Fir Park next Saturday and a win will see us hop them. Let’s hope that more than four thousand turn up to cheer the Steelmen to three points.
