The price for the win over Hibs last weekend is that two, probably three, of our back four will be spectators against a United side that will be confident following their good showing at Celtic Park. It's likely that we'll see Kerr, Cummins and Francis-Angol called to starting duties. McFadden and Ainsworth had a tough baptism following their injury spells and if they came through unscathed at least one will start. Neither Lawson nor Vigurs made the kick off last week but with a patchwork defence behind maybe a cautious selection for midfield will give an opportunity for one of them.
United had a win, loss and draw in their last three outings and were well praised for the attacking attitude they showed at Parkhead. It took an injury time equaliser to rob them of a famous win and they'll be hoping for another performance on the road. Their fans will be cheered by the contract extensions agreed by Souttar and Gauld - and the news that three of their players are in the Scotland U21 squad (Armstrong, Robertson and Gauld).
Our opponents received another boost when the SFA reduced Ciftci's red card to yellow on Thursday and the striker (who scored against us at Tannadice) will be eligible for the game.
The last meeting between the teams produced an entertaining 2-2 draw and it might be that we are happy to take another point after a 1-1 result.
Remember the last time we played united at Fir Park?
