Dundee United - 24h On

We started the game with a few nice moves. The ball was passed with some confidence, we attacked in numbers and we were unfortunate not to be ahead inside the first ten minutes. The ball was in the back of the United net after two minutes but the referee (McCurry) indicated that Craigan was fouling as the corner kick was delivered. Later Foran sent an unmarked header wide of the mark when he might have done better.

United then came into the game we were put under pressure. It was with some relief that we reached the break with the game still scoreless but it was no surprise that the opposition eventually took the lead.

By this time the game had degenerated into a long ball affair. High clearances, long hopeful punts and bouts of ‘heidie tennis’, did little to hold the interest of the fans.

The United goal at least spurred us into action. Skippy claimed the goal though there was a suspicion that a defending arm helped the ball over the line. Clarkson came on for the last few minutes and his involvement with Ritchie when five minutes remained resulted in a silly confrontation. Their captain got his marching orders and the crowd was at last released to find some warmth.

A point away from home in the SPL is always acceptable and the fact that we gathered it without playing well has to be regarded as a bonus. Maybe the visit of Hearts next week will provide the spur to get us back on form.
