Dundee United: 24h on

Although the draw at Fir Park suited us more than United, their late goal was a real blow to our hopes of finishing in third place. Our worst fears seemed to be confirmed when Hibs took the lead against Aberdeen. The thought of having to go to Easter Road on the last day of the season (whenever that may be) needing a win for a place in Europe is not one that fills us with confidence.

Motherwell girls take a bow

But things were about to get better. Aberdeen equalised, took the lead and Hibs disintegrated, finishing with Gathuessi and Nish having early baths. Suddenly we found that the day had finished with our lead over United intact and our advantage over Hibs extended to two points.

Our competitors have only three games left compared to our five and we must be thought of as favourites to finish third. To add to the pressure the press and pundits are talking up our chances. No doubt the management team are well aware of the need to stamp on any signs of complacency inside the camp - all they need to do is post up a list of the upcoming fixtures.

As for the fans, complacency is not a danger. We've seen some fantastic football this season and it's a huge bonus to be involved at the top end of the table with the prizes still unclaimed.

Next up is an Old Firm double header, with Celtic at Fir Park next Saturday for a lunchtime kick off before a midweek trip to Ibrox. As ever, anything gained from them will be a bonus but the game against Aberdeen on May 10 could be decisive.
