Dundee - 24h on

With an hour of the game gone it looked as though there was no way that we were going to break through the massed ranks of dark blue shirts posted in front of Rab Douglas.  Motherwell were a goal behind and struggling to create much of a goal threat.

There was no lack of effort and we enjoyed the majority of possession but whether we moved forward up the wings or though the centre we hardly managed a decent shot on target.  Corners or free kicks were soaked up by the defence and it looked like a first loss of the season was on the cards.

Handshakes

McCall elected to replace Murphy with Ojamaa and with twenty minutes remaining Cummins was sacrificed for Daley.  The shape of the team changed with Law more central and Ojamaa buzzing around the box and the reward soon followed.  Henrik's drive and bustling style did the trick and he burst into the box, squared to Higdon who scored after a heart stopping juggle with the ball at his feet a few yards from the goal line.

That was the turning point as the home side found it difficult to change tactics and move forward.  We were after the winner and it arrived with five minutes of the ninety left.  Hateley's out-swinging corner was met by Higdon's forehead at the near post and it flew into the net.

The five additional minutes gave Dundee time for a scare or two but the points were secured.  The travelling fans were on their feet as the players left the pitch on their way to the dressing room.  Yet again they delivered great support to the team despite the loss of the first goal and a fairly workmanlike performance and the manager and players appreciated the backing.

We'll have at least another week to enjoy the league table!
