Dundee - 24h on

It was the lack of a cutting edge that resulted in our plentiful possession in the first half failing to deliver a lead.  There was plenty of effort and, at times, some neat play but there were very few threats on the Dundee goal.  We were reduced to shots from distance but most were off target.

The defence keeps 'em out

The manager feels that the return of Louis Moult could be the key to unlock opposition defences.  With Ainsworth and Johnson having to choose between the delivery of crosses to the small figure of McDonald and an in-field run with the hope of getting a shot on target, the hope is that last season's marksman can start converting chances into goals.  By the time of the trip to Dingwall both Hammell and Blyth should be returned to full fitness.

At the other end of the team there can be satisfaction taken from Saturday's clean sheet.  Dundee may not have offered the most devestating attack that we will face this season but there were a few testing moments.  Newcomers Tait and Heneghan have already shown that they will be valuable additions to the squad and both enhanced their reputations with solid defending.

Chris Cadden got his much deserved call up to the Scotland U21 squad.  They will prepare for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying matches against FYR Macedonia and Ukraine.  The respective games are at Tynecastle this Friday (2 September 7.30pm) and in Kiev on Tuesday 6 September.
